The Cristalliers of the Aosta Valley
An afternoon dedicated to geology and its protagonists: geologists and cristalliers
Cristalliers are seekers of crystals and minerals who travel through the Aosta Valley Alps in search of rare and precious specimens. Together with the geologists of the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley, they have actively contributed to setting up the museum’s geological rooms.
On Friday 18 September, from 17.00 to 18.30, the Saint-Pierre Regional Museum of Natural Sciences dedicates an afternoon to those who know the mountains of the Aosta Valley from the inside: literally.
Programme:
🎟️ Free admission for the 17.00 session, with a one-and-a-half-hour guided tour and an in-depth geological exploration in rooms 3, 4 and 5 led by geologist Marco Paganone and cristalliers Franco Lucianaz and Roberto Ferronato, representing the Les Amis di Berrio Association.
This will be followed by an experience observing thin sections of rocks with a polarized-light optical microscope, conducted by geologist Michel Stra.
The cristalliers will also bring their tools of the trade: picks, wedges, chisels: everything needed to safely collect samples in the field, to show visitors.
